Cult Factory Volume 1: Authentic HeadsOpis:London-born Nick Woodland is a product of the British blues-rock scene. Inspired by the likes of Alexis Korner, Eric Clapton, John Mayall and Peter Green, Woodland started out on guitar at age 15. Based in Munich (Germany), he has played his guitar for many bands in rock (Amon Düül II, The Clash), pop (Giorgio Moroder) and jazz (Herbie Mann) and recorded five albums with Germany's top act Marius Müller-Westernhagen. German Jazz Podium reads: "Woodland's guitar sounds like Stevie Ray Vaughan come back to life -- or like Eric Clapton on speed." Since the early 90s Woodland has been German singer/musician/poet Ringsgwandl's "chief guitarist" in uncountable concerts all over Germany, Austria and Switzerland. Says Ringsgwandl: "I know nobody else who plays all kinds of guitars, acoustic and electric, picked or slide, and who is into each and even the most obscure style of the last 80 years, and also plays mandolin, mandola and some other things with strings." Now Nick Woodland reaches further out proving his stature as a first-rate composer, lyricist, singer and multi-instrumentalist (who even makes good use of an electric sitar and a mandolin choir this time). On his new album "Cult Factory Vol. 1 -- Authentic Heads", the man with the dark bowler and the British accent delivers a dozen originals that match up with the best from the rock-blues-country inflected singer-songwriter genre. Nick's new songs lead us to Arizona and London, to pubs and parties and of course back to the good old days. Thanks to digital studio devices, Nick and his Munich buddy (and co-producer) Manfred Mildenberger shine as a gorgeous two-man band.
