Pregna PLUS Without Iron is a dietary supplement containing a carefully selected set of nutrients for the needs of pregnant women, developed according to the standards of Evidence Based Medicine. Product recommended by the Polish Society of Gynecologists and Obstetricians. It contains ingredients recommended by the Polish Society of Gynecologists and Obstetricians: folic acid, iodine and vitamin D and DHA from the omega-3 family [1]. The composition of Pregna PLUS® IRON FREE contains MetaPregnaFolic® (calcium L-methylfolate), an ingredient that is a biologically available form of folate, making it easier and faster to absorb. The ingredients in the Pregna PLUS Iron-Free dietary supplement perform many important functions in the body, physiologically influencing the normal course of pregnancy and the mother's health. Supplemental folic acid intake increases the mother's folate levels. Low maternal folate levels are a risk factor for neural tube defects in the developing fetus [2]. There are many risk factors for neural tube defects, and changing one of them may have a beneficial or negative effect. Vitamin D supports the proper utilization of calcium and phosphorus in a woman's body. Iodine contributes to the normal production of thyroid hormones and the proper functioning of the thyroid gland. DHA contributes to the brain and eye development of the fetus and breastfed infants [3]. According to the Polish Expert Group's position on DHA and other omega-3 fatty acid supplementation in pregnant and breastfeeding women, DHA supplementation is recommended to ensure adequate levels of this nutrient in the mother's body and its proper distribution to the fetus [4]. The source of DHA in the product is highly purified oil from fatty marine fish obtained using PureMaxTM technology.
