Little Chimp Runs Away is a gentle early reader story written by Jenny Giles and illustrated by Trevor Hearn, first published in 1996 by Rigby as part of the PM Story Books series (Level 6).

The story follows a young chimpanzee who becomes upset after being scolded by his mother. Feeling misunderstood, he decides to run away into the jungle. At first, Little Chimp enjoys the idea of independence—swinging through trees, exploring new places, and imagining life on his own. However, as the day goes on, he begins to feel lonely and frightened. The jungle is full of unfamiliar sounds and shadows, and without his mother’s protection, he realizes how vulnerable he is.
