Brown Mouse Plays a Trick is a sequel to A Party for Brown Mouse. In this story, Grey Mouse and White Mouse want to go home after the party, but a hungry cat is waiting outside. The mice are frightened and unsure how to escape safely. Brown Mouse, however, comes up with a clever plan: he uses a clockwork toy mouse to distract the cat. The cat chases the toy, giving the real mice the chance to slip away unharmed.
