Opis

These lands were once part of the central and central-western territories of the Polish–Lithuanian Commonwealth; today they form Eastern Poland. This is a region of remarkable beauty, diverse landscapes, rich agricultural traditions, and a strong patriotic heritage. Since the era of the partitions of Poland, however, these areas were systematically neglected and economically weakened by the occupying powers, which led to the widespread label "Poland B." Fortunately, that is now a thing of the past, as the region has experienced a remarkable revival in both its economy and its cultural traditions. Renowned photographer Adam Bujak traveled extensively throughout Eastern Poland over several years, capturing its unique character and beauty. The result of this work is an impressive large-format album featuring 600 photographs across 440 pages, presenting 177 towns and villages, breathtaking landscapes, natural wonders, castles, palaces, churches, national memorial sites, as well as scenes of local customs, traditional celebrations, and the everyday lives of hardworking people. An important feature of the album is the original accompanying text written by Bishop Antoni Pacyfik Dydycz, longtime Bishop of Drohiczyn, historian, author, patriot, and a distinguished son of the Podlasie region. Combining exceptional photography with insightful historical and cultural commentary, the album offers a comprehensive portrait of one of Poland's most fascinating regions. It is available in separate Polish, English, German, and Italian editions.
